Everwave beginner's guide: towers, co-op, guilds and modes

Everything to know when starting Everwave: endless waves, 44 towers and 6 maps, live co-op and relay runs, guilds, raids, rescues, modes and accessibility options.

Everwave is a co-op tower defense game with endless waves, playable free in your browser. Here's how it fits together.

The basics

Pick a map and a difficulty, place towers along the path, and upgrade them as the waves grow stronger. There's no final wave: the goal is to see how deep you can push. In Hardcore mode, a single leak ends the run.

Towers and maps

There are 44 towers and six maps: Serpent, Spiral, Estuary, Gorge, Junction and Meadow. New towers and star enhancements arrive with seasonal tides; once you summon a seasonal tower, it's yours for good.

Playing with others

  • Live co-op: share a co-op code with a partner and defend the same run.
  • Relay runs: play in shifts. When you hand over, the next commander inherits everything.
  • Rescues: fallen runs are posted for rescue. Beat the wave someone fell on and you both earn gems.
  • Duels: challenge a rival, or accept an open challenge, with rated duels each season.
  • Seeded races: share a seed code and race a friend on exactly the same run.

Guilds

Every run's waves feed a weekly guild goal, and every contributed wave is guild XP. A co-op or relay run with a guildmate counts as an expedition and counts double. Guilds also fight guild wars on a shared seed, where summed best waves decide the winner, and a weekly raid boss, where your kills count double when your run leans into its weakness.

Between runs

  • Permanent upgrades bought with gems deepen your branches for lasting power.
  • Curses and contracts: stack curses for bonus gems, or sign contracts for objectives on your next run.
  • Milestone chests reward your deepest lifetime push.
  • Achievements unlock titles.

Accessibility

Everwave has high-contrast enemy colours, an option to turn off flashes, pops and screen shake, and a larger panel and tip text.
