Haven of the Gods is a free roguelite action RPG that runs in your browser. This guide covers what you need to know in your first few hours.
Getting started
Open hotg.anpfamily.com/play in Safari, Chrome, Edge or Firefox and make a free account (email and password). The account keeps one save in sync on every device.
Controls
- Move: drag on a phone, or use WASD on a keyboard.
- Attack: stand still. Your hero fires automatically whenever you stop moving.
The rhythm of every fight is the same: reposition, stop, fire, and move again before attacks land. Bosses telegraph their attacks, and each of the 13 boss archetypes has its own tells.
The campaign: 100 chapters
The campaign runs for 100 chapters. Between fights you pick perks that shape the run. Clear chapters to earn loot and experience.
Gear
There are nine equipment slots, and items come in normal, magic, rare and unique rarities with rolled affixes. Upgrades have no cap: costs rise on a curve, so there's always a next step.
Skills and talents
- Skill gems go in your gear and change what your attack does; support gems change how it behaves.
- Talents come from three talent boards, chosen from six gods. Each board ends in build-defining Core slots.
Levels
Character levels run from 1 to 100. After that, Master Levels continue to a hard cap of 1,000. Each is worth 30% of a normal level and costs ten times the experience.
The Starchart endgame
After chapter 100 comes the Starchart, an infinite tier ladder. Monster health and damage rise on a curve with no cap: about 6.5 times a chapter-100 monster at tier 10, 236 times at tier 100, and 871 times at tier 200.
Trading and PvP
- The Trading Post lets you sell your drops to other players at any price, with a 5% sales tax.
- PvP is asynchronous and Elo-rated: your build defends while you're offline.
Idle progress
Your idle town, Ironhaven, and an outpost keep earning while the game is closed, so check in between runs.
What it costs
Nothing. There are no ads, no in-app purchases, no premium currency, no energy system and no battle pass.
